All that Jazz!

Yes, the first thing that comes to mind when you think about the Dominican Republic are the picture-perfect beaches with beautiful aqua blue water. But the Dominican Republic as so much more to offer especially on the cultural side. The annual Jazz festival was held during the first week of November with events in Sousa and Cabarete is a great example of that!

The Dominican Republic Jazz Festival is now in its 22nd year and is the longest running jazz event in the Dominican Republic. The event is a free, multi-day festival full of rhythm, flavor, and color and features some of the World’s best Latin Jazz groups and musicians.

The festival also gives back to the community through its educational foundation FEDUJAZZ which offers free music education to young people in the Dominican Republic. There are was a hundred students at the center of the foundation in Cabarete that attended educational music workshops with the renowned musicians performing at the jazz festival. This year’s festival included eight free music education workshops in five Dominican cities.

Check out the Jazz Festival site to have an idea of the musicians who performed this year and more information on the festival. Very proud that our community Casa Linda was a sponsor for this event. When you are planning your trip to the Dominican Republic, get information about what events are happening during your stay and experience all that this beautiful destination has to offer.

Until next time!
